Ben Affleck stars and directs a based-on-a-book tale of a Prohibition era gangster who fights, finds — and loses — love, etc., etc. The cinematography is the most impressive piece of this work — great looking period piece on the big screen — as the story chugs along without much drama (even as the bullets are flying). Nothing bad, just not very interesting.
