This movie feels very much like a play for the reason that it was a play, by August Wilson (who won a Pulitzer for it) about an African American man (Denzel Washington, who also directed) in the 1950s Pittsburgh, who takes out his disappointments in life on his wife (Viola Davis) and son. The acting is, as expected, top-notch, but I found the story a bit too predictable, although worth a viewing.
