All of the words written about the human destruction taking place in Syria cannot, unfortunately, match the power of this 40-minute documentary which follows the White Helmets — men from all walks of Syrian life who put on the white helmets and become first responders in the aftermath of bombings, shootings, etc. — doing their best, without much training, to save as many lives as possible. Many Syrian cities under fire have teams of White Helmets, and god bless them. This doc deserved its Oscar win this year. (Subtitles.)
