I can’t say I know too much about the X-men franchise and, in particular, Wolverine — I’ve seen a few movies with these characters, and that’s about all — but Hugh Jackman’s (and Patrick Stewart, as Professor X) swan song as Logan (i.e. Wolverine) is a dark (unlike the earlier movies)  but quite engaging story.  In fact, it’s downright human in its approach to aging, regret and the passing of time.  Lots of the usual violence, of course, but this film is about much more than the violence and special effects.
