An interesting and entertaining documentary (which at 90 minutes doesn’t overstay its welcome) on what makes a city thrive, and how a top-down approach to urban development can ruin the very things we want to cultivate in a successful urban environment. The story is told through the lens of urban activist and author, Jane Jacobs (famous, in part, for being the author of “The Death and Life of Great American Cities”), and focusses on her philosophical battles with the work of, primarily, Robert Moses (head of public works in NYC back in the day). However, I can’t say I learned a lot of new info.
