In 1973, the chauvinist and ex-tennis champion, Bobby Riggs, challenged top women’s tennis star, Billie Jean King, to a heavily promoted and viewed (an audience estimated at 90 million) sporting event. Steve Carell and Emma Stone are very good at playing (and are made up to look very much like) these tennis legends to recreate that pivotal time for the future of women’s tennis. The movie takes a while to get its drama going, but the second half makes it worthwhile. Enjoyable.
