Darkest Hour

Gary Oldman is excellent as Sir Winston Churchill as he becomes Prime Minister for the first time in the spring of 1940, with precious little time to decide whether to negotiate with the Germans  or fight, all the while facing challenges from his own party (a number of pooh-bahs who don’t feel he is up to the job) and the skepticism of King George VI.  Political intrigue, war, courage, etc. are the themes for this very theatrical experience (almost all of the events take place indoors) set over four weeks, the outcomes of which would change the course of history.  Could be paired with the movie Dunkirk for a film meal.
