I think Amy Schumer is a great comedian and a talented actress, but even she can’t propel this film to something more than a good theme — i.e. how much of our assessment of beauty comes from what is within vs. only what is visible to the eye — and a few truly good laughs. This story — a woman who doesn’t believe she is attractive one day falls, hits her head hard, and wakes up being absolutely convinced she is a rare jewel of beauty — deserved more than the skin-deep characters that support Amy’s.
