An inventive and creative satire, set in, more or less, modern day Oakland, CA, that follows a young black man (Lakeith Stanfield, in an impressive performance) as he becomes a telemarketer at a very bizarre telemarketing firm — words alone cannot describe how bizarre – while living with him girlfriend in his uncle’s garage. A send-up and critique of corporate life and the price to be paid for success, an indictment of the state of race relations in America, and a meditation on the purity of art, this is one wide-ranging story, with a few bits of sci-fi thrown into the mix. A wild, unconventional but entertaining journey.
