The Last Suit

A kind and sad Argentinian film that follows an elderly Holocaust survivor who, before his kids move him into a nursing home (he’s suffering the effects of diabetes and other ailments), has decided he must return to the land of his birth, Poland, for the first time since he left after the war, to deliver a suit (he was a tailor) to the man who saved his life after he escaped the death camps. Miguel Angel Sola, who plays the lead character and is in almost every scene, is what makes this story work. He’s grumpy, sentimental, acerbic, and he can be a charmer when he wants to.  Which is good, as he will be your constant travelling companion for this eventful journey from Buenos Aires to Lodz, Poland.
