You’ve probably heard of this plotline: young adult becomes addicted to drugs, parents try to save their child.  But sometimes a film soars above the clichés — and this is one of them.  Julia Roberts and Lucas Hedges give outstanding performances as the persevering mom and her late teen addict son, unexpectedly home for the Christmas holidays. There are other characters in this story — a step-father, some siblings (step or otherwise), etc. — but you will be up-close and personal with Julia and Lucas as they envelop you with sadness, humour, despair and love in a story that takes place over 24 or so hours.
