Vice

  • Post category:.

Director Adam McKay (The Big Short) wastes an opportunity to seriously explore how Dick Cheney (a terrific, as usual, Christian Bale) became one of the most, if not most, powerful Vice-Presidents in US history, and wastes most of the big-name talent (Steve Carell, Amy Adams, Sam Rockwell) who comprise Cheney’s political orbit.  The characters here are portrayed as caricatures whose lack of depth doesn’t do justice to what could have been a fascinating tale of political power and intrigue. The style that worked so well for The Big Short is ineffective here.  Disappointing.
