For Clint Eastwood fans only, I think. This tale of an elderly man, broke and estranged from his family, who becomes a mule — i.e. a drug runner — for a Mexican drug cartel, is inspired by a true story. Clint plays his familiar role here, a curmudgeon whose heart beats with kindness underneath many layers of hurt, who, in the pursuit of money, gets in over his head but will one day see the light. Bradley Cooper, as a DEA agent on Clint’s tale, and especially Dianne Wiest, as the ex-wife, are good, but this is Clint’s film. Nothing new from him, acting-wise, but something charming about this story.
