RBG, as US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is now known, is all the rage these days, especially in the age of Trump (may she stay healthy!). Thankfully, Felicity Jones plays her as more than a caricature as we travel back in time to RGG’s days as one of few women at Harvard Law to her (and her husband’s — played by Arnie Hammer, who does a good job of portraying the perfect spouse, in this case a very smart tax lawyer) ground-breaking win in a tax case that the court strikes down as discriminatory on the basis of sex. Yes, this film verges on hagiography, is formulaic, and doesn’t go too deep, but it’s an enjoyable two hours of viewing time.
