Set in France in the last years, this film is based on the true story of a doctor — and sometimes her colleagues in a regional hospital — who takes on a large and politically well-connected pharmaceutical company after evidence accumulates to suggest that a certain medication is literally killing patients. Of course, the fun begins once the company (and the public authorities whose job it is to protect public safety) pushes back. Good performances within a film that resists, for the most part, sanctimony, and allows us to believe that even one person can truly make a positive difference. (Subtitled. Seen at TIFF.)
